2005–Present — Global Exchange

From 1956 to 2005, the International Center offered essential services to international newcomers throughout the Capital Region. Beginning in 2005, the Center’s vision and mission shifted toward increasing global-local citizen diplomacy, strengthening regional multicultural outreach, and deepening foreign affairs education and dialogue.


The Center continued its long-standing involvement with the National Council for International Visitors (NCIV), the national network of community-based nonprofit organizations that implement the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). NCIV was later rebranded as Global Ties U.S., and ICCR continues to play an important role in public diplomacy and global community-building.


Today, ICCR focuses on creating opportunities for international exchange and connecting visiting leaders and professionals with individuals, organizations, educational institutions, and communities throughout New York’s Capital Region.

This modern focus reflects the Center’s continued evolution while maintaining the spirit of international connection and hospitality that has been part of ICCR since its founding in 1956.
